The 2018 Transparency Exam, the Voluntary Transparency Report on websites of Spanish universities, drawn up by Fundación Compromiso y Transparencía, has placed the University of Castilla-La Mancha as the fourth most transparent public university in the country. The university fulfils 21 out of the 27 indicators established, including those for strategic planning, staffing, policies and government, dependencies, supply and demand, and financial information.

The University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM), along with the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and Rovira i Virgili University, ranks as the fourth most transparent public university in Spain, according to the 2018 Transparency Exam carried out by Fundación Compromiso y Transparencia, which analyses information published voluntarily on the websites of both public and private universities.

The university obtained 44 points, which puts it behind the University of Burgos, the leader with 49 points; followed by Cordoba and Cantabria which take second and third place with 46 and 45 points respectively.

The study by Fundación Compromiso y Transparencia establishes three levels of transparency according to the degree to which their requirements are met and universities are graded as being transparent, semi-transparent or opaque. The UCLM is amongst the fifteen most transparent universities in Spain, having fulfilled 21 out of the 27 transparency indicators established and therefore satisfies the quantitative and qualitative criteria, having fulfilled two indicators connected with financial information: financial status and audit report. October 2019 marked the completion of the analysis of 49 public universities, 15 received the grade of transparent in this report as opposed to 27 in the previous one. The number of semi-transparent universities has gone from 20 in 2016 to 25, and opaque ones from two to nine.

The 2018 Transparency Exam Report is broken down into ten important areas of university information which must be available on their websites: strategy planning, staffing, policies and government, public relations work, departments, supply and demand for courses, teaching and research staff, students, financial information and results. Voluntary transparency on the website is understood to be "the effort to spread and publish important comprehensive and up-to-date information about the university, making it accessible to anyone potentially interested in it".

The UCLM Transparency Portal was created in September 2015 as a way of pooling different reports and statistics for complying with the Transparency Law, continues from the UCLM in Figures project which began in 2004. This website clearly and rigorously shows how the university has evolved over each academic year.
