Engineering which reinvents mobility by putting forward efficient means of transport

18/05/2020

Civil engineering has a fundamental role in promoting efficient mobility by means of planning and designing safe, accessible and sustainable transport infrastructures. Also, it uses advanced technologies for traffic management in order to reduce congestion on roads and promotes more sustainable transport alternatives, such as public transport, cycling or walking.

At our School the research group in Mobility and Land Planning (Mob&UP) works on areas such as estimating demand and transport and supramunicipal planning for managing the effects large activity has on rural land. Also, the Laboratory of Acoustics Applied to Civil Engineering (LA2IC) works on research such as evaluating environmental noise, acoustic geo-auscultation of roads, designing and making materials with acoustic properties and measuring the acoustic properties of different rolling surfaces.
