The European Project IntelliWind kicks off, aiming to train the next generation of multidisciplinary researchers to develop intelligent systems that support the autonomous operations of wind power plants.
IntelliWind is a European industrial doctorate network granted under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Horizon Europe program (HORIZON-MSCA-2023-DN-01-01) with four million euros and coordinated by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). The network consists of 9 prestigious universities and research centers in Europe, including UCLM, as well as 9 renowned companies in the wind energy sector that will contribute with an industrial perspective to the project. Estefanía Artigao, a member of the Renewable Energy Research Institute, will be the principal investigator on behalf of UCLM.
This project pursues a series of ambitious objectives, ultimately aiming to develop methodologies that promote autonomous decision-making in the operation and maintenance of wind turbines. To achieve this, a catalog of actions will be developed covering the entire chain, from information processing to optimal decision-making, through understanding, by developing and applying innovative modeling, logic, and optimization methodologies, with feedback mechanisms for self-learning and improving predictive capacity. In this way, it aims to increase the reliability, robustness, and safety of the proposed autonomous solutions by quantifying uncertainty and robustness.
