Multi-purpose building

C

lasses are held in the multi-purpose building of the Campus of Cuenca. It is a newly-built facility, which has 2,828 useful square metres and multiple spaces for the development of training actions and complementary activities, including computer rooms, spacious classrooms, two radio studios and a television set.

The multi-purpose building has 25 classrooms. 3 of these classrooms have a capacity of more than 100 students, and the remaining 22 have a maximum capacity between 15 and 50 students. High-capacity classrooms have fixed seats, while low-capacity classrooms have polyvalent seats, so that students can work in a flexible and collaborative environment. Classrooms have adapted seats for people with special needs and have computer equipment (computer, internet connection) and audiovisual equipment (video projector and speakers).

The multi-purpose building has 16 fully-equipped offices for all professors, regardless their professional category and dedication to the University (full-time or part-time).

The facilities fully comply with the accessibility requirements established by the applicable regulations, including exterior and interior ramps that allow access and facilitate mobility between the different units of the building. The building is also equipped with the required lifts to communicate the different floors, as well as specially-adapted classrooms so that students with reduced mobility can attend classes under the same conditions as other students. Also, services are especially prepared to be used by people with disabilities.

Material resources

Durante the last courses, many improvements have been made in terms of audiovisual material for teaching practices:

 

Computer equipment

  • The number of Apple iMac computers has been increased to 40.
  • Three computer rooms have been set up: one with 41 seats and network connections to facilitate the use of individual equipment and two more small rooms for unfolding.
  • The video conferencing equipment Policom has been replaced by Lync (Skype for Business).
  • Professors have been provided with a Lenovo Yoga 1 laptop or a MacBook Pro.

 

Lending equipment

The number of video cameras has been increased, improving the quality of video and audio. This allows the student to learn how to use camera controls, similar to those from professional cameras, and how to capture line signals and balanced audio. This new equipment also provides the required phantom signal for the use of condenser microphones. The number of handheld and lavaliere microphones, audio recorders and reflex cameras (DSLR), as well as auxiliary materials (tripods, tele-lenses) has also been increased. All this is available to students and teachers to carry out any work during the course.

 

Radio studio

All the microphones have been replaced by others of better quality and the audio mixer has now a digital connection (USB with two channels). A telephone hybrid has been installed, and the recording computer has been replaced by a work station more powerful and with greater storage capacity.

Also, a second complete radio station with seating for public has been installed. It is composed by six voice-over stations, a control station with a shuttle and recording computer.

 

Television set

An HD video mixer with SDI and HDMI connections has been installed. All the cameras have been replaced by new high definition systems and HD-SDI connections. The monitors of each camera signal have been replaced by a single 50-inch monitor for the multi-monitor signal provided by the video mixer, through which 8 sources, preview and program can be displayed.

The required cabling has been installed to broadcast up to 5 video signals and 2 audio signals between the radio studio and the television set, in order to take advantage of both spaces at the same time for practices. This way, the work at the television set can be monitored from the radio studio and the radio practices can be broadcasted and recorded from the television control.
